Participating in the Festival

How to participate in MozFest

  1. Register here ahead of the festival.
  2. Visit the Plaza and log in.
  3. Review the Schedule, Arts & Media sessions, Lightning Talks, and Fringe Events to add sessions that interest you to your own personal festival schedule. You can add any session to your own personal MopFest 2022 schedule from its page in the program!
  4. Join us from 7 to 11 March 2022 for MozFest! Festival hours run from 12:00 UTC/13:00 CET to 01:15 UTC/02:15 CET the next day, except on Friday, 11 March 2020, when the festival will close a bit earlier than that.
  5. The Zoom link to each live session will appear on its session page in the schedule 15 minutes before it begins.
  6. Community plenaries like the Opening and Closing Circles and our Dialogs & Debates series will be livestreamed on the front page of the Plaza, as well.

What To “Bring” To MozFest

Here’s a short list of things to “bring” to MozFest:

  • A comfortable place to be during sessions. This may be sitting, standing, or walking!
  • Self-care essentials like medicines, hand sanitizer, comfortable clothes, and footwear.
  • A reusable water bottle and/or thermos.
  • A way to document your learning and keep personal notes.
  • A way to keep track of the contact information of all the new people you’ll meet.
  • A favorite device for participating in sessions with online content or technical components, as needed.
  • Anything else that might make your participation work best for you such as good lighting, speakers or headphones, or something to fidget with, hold, or play with as you participate.
  • A timer to help you make the sessions that interest you the most and to remind you of when it’s time to take a break or get back to the other parts of your life.
  • A device that allows you to connect with and participate in online sessions hosted on Zoom.

Remember, you can ask for advice from past participants directly on the MozFest Slack, as well.

Accessibility

Accessibility is a core principle of MozFest. We also know accessibility is something we can always do better. You can share your advice and questions with us on Slack, as well as begin conversations with us about any particular concerns or needs you have.

This year we’re coaching our Facilitators on accessibility considerations for virtual sessions, such as captioning and transcripts, visual descriptions of people and images (including any slides or diagrams), and beginning with check-ins and introductions that help Facilitators learn how to adapt their sessions for the people who attend.

Don’t see an accessibility item on the festival website that’s important to you? Tell us more at festival@mozilla.org.

Who Can Help?

There are people on the MozFest community Slack who are there to help with any challenges you might encounter.

  • MozFest Production Staff can answer general questions about the festival itself and help you find the online program. They will be monitoring the #general channel throughout the festival.
  • Space Wranglers organize and run each thematic space of the festival. They will be monitoring their respective Space channels throughout the festival.
  • Volunteers fulfill a number of roles at the festival and can help find the answers and people you need. You can reach them on the #help channel of the MozFest community Slack.

If you or someone around you could use some help during the festival, you can also Tweet @mozillafestival using the #mozhelp hashtag.

Stay connected

There are so many ways to stay connected with Mozilla and the MozFest community ahead of the festival. For example, you can:

  • Join the conversations on our MozFest community on Slack and say hello on #general and #introductions.
  • Keep up with the latest from the MozFest team by signing up for our newsletter.
  • Share your feedback, questions, and suggestions with our Twitter community @mozillafestival.
  • Spotlight your work and see what others are up to on Mozilla Pulse.
  • Send us feedback to help improve this guide at festival@mozillafoundation.org.
